Coworker keeps taking credit for my status updates, so I started adding absurd Easter eggs to see if anyone is actually reading them.

For the past three months, a coworker has been taking the summaries and research notes I write and passing them off as their own in weekly meetings. Everyone praises them for being "so on top of things."
Yesterday, I embedded a completely fake bullet point right in the middle: "Timeline is currently dependent on the lunar eclipse and migratory patterns of local Canadian geese."

They presented it verbatim this morning. Not a single person in leadership blinked an eye. I don't even know whether to laugh or cry at this point.

Doombar_999 Keep doing it making the next one more bizarre than the last. The management will think your coworker is losing their marbles.

woodwork16 Our team had to submit weekly updates to our manager. Our manager has to combine them and provide the updates to the director.

I needed information from our manager for a project was working on. After two weeks and no responses I added that to my status report. "Still waiting on information from *manager regarding" He copied and pasted it into his report.

Apprehensive_Win7049 I used to work with a guy who did something similar. Our supervisor was probably the biggest idiot I've met in my life, and he would take my coworker's work verbatim to his boss, the manager, for explanations, justifications, reports, etc.

One day my coworker gets sick of this and starts randomly dropping in quotes. into emails from the old Raytheon Turbo Encabulator video.

Next thing, we start overhearing say things to his boss about "Amulated Famulite" and "Inverse Reactive Phase Inhibitors", and we about d ed. The idiot just parroted it without even proofing or reality checking it. I do remember some blowback, but it was minimal. For there to be consequences the idiot would have had to own it.

Absolute Cinema. And if you're unfamiliar, the Turbo Encabulator video is a trove of technobabble. Highly recommended.

Loopy Mercutio Absolutely keep doing it. And if they ever confront you about it, be sure to record or screenshot it, so you can simply and easily prove they're a thief.

Also, you could type other random messages using a font / color that can't be seen readily unless highlighted. Or put a hyperlink that leads to a simple statement: "These notes were stolen from coworker." by their
